Today I will share Paul’s 3 standing orders for the church. Though written to the church in Thessalonica in the 1st century, they are still a standing order for the church in 2022.
Rejoice always, pray continually, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus (1 Thess 5:16-22 NKJV).
These verses are in the imperative mood, forceful commands, directing our attitude and actions. The very use of the imperative forces us to regard rejoicing, praying, and giving thanks as things other than feelings. Feelings can’t be commanded, but behaviors can be ordered.
Today, let us receive and begin to carry out our orders for 2022, enabled to do so in the power of the Holy Spirit!
