Today we will take a few minutes in the service to consecrate or ‘set apart’ Kerry Peace to the position of deacon at Liberty Life. Deacons carry out the ongoing practical ministry of the church. They are not just responsible for overseeing the church employees and the upkeep and repairs of the church grounds and facilities, but also responsible in assisting the elders in shepherding the flock. These are to be spiritual men and women of God who, like Stephen in the early church, can not only wait on tables and see that physical needs aren’t neglected, but can also minister in the things of the Spirit. They can effectively witness their faith, comfort the grieving, encourage the weak, witness their faith, and share the Gospel of the Kingdom.
I am grateful for our dedicated deacons and deaconesses who work together in unity and have such a heart for the body of Christ at Liberty Life, our facility, and to our P.E.D.A.L. mission.
